At first glance, it looks like just another detailed drawing of a dense jungle.
Trees twist together in complicated patterns. Vines wrap around branches. Shadows create strange shapes that almost seem to move when you stare at them too long. Somewhere inside all of that detail, animals are hiddenāblending perfectly into the environment.
And then comes the question that has been spreading all over social media:
āHow many animals do you see?ā
With multiple-choice answers like:
A: 3
B: 4
C: 5
And the claim that your answer somehow reveals whether you are a narcissist.
But is there any truth to that?

š§ First: What Youāre Actually Looking At
The image is a classic optical illusion puzzle. It is designed using overlapping visual elements where animals are hidden inside patterns that resemble:
- Tree branches
- Leaves
- Rocks
- Shadows
- Natural textures
Your brain is forced to ādecodeā shapes from randomness, which is why people see different numbers of animals depending on how closely they observe.
These kinds of images are not new. They have been used for decades in psychology books, magazines, and visual tests to demonstrate how perception works.
But on social media, they are often turned into viral challenges with exaggerated claims.
š The Animals Hidden in the Image
When carefully examined, the jungle illustration contains several hidden animals. While different viewers may interpret details differently, the commonly identified creatures include:

At the bottom of the image, a large snake is clearly coiled around the roots of trees. Its body blends with the twisted vines, making it harder to notice at first glance.
š 2. The Leopard / Big Cat
On the lower right side, a spotted big cat is partially hidden among leaves and shadows. Its face is visible if you focus closely on the pattern differences.

Near the upper left branches, a bird with a large beak (similar to a toucan) is perched. It is one of the easiest animals to miss because it merges with the leaves.
So depending on how carefully you observe, most people identify 4 to 5 animals in total.

One of the most interesting parts of this illusion is that no two people always see the same thing immediately.
