Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas, a 21-year-old woman from Rio de Janeiro, traveled with friends expecting an exciting day filled with outdoor adventure.
The group visited the well-known Ponte do Esqueleto, sometimes referred to as the “Skeleton Bridge,” in São Paulo state, where rope jumping and other extreme sports attract thrill-seekers from across Brazil.
According to investigators, what began as an ordinary jump ended in a devastating accident that shocked everyone present.
Emergency responders were called to the scene immediately, but despite their efforts, Maria Eduarda could not be saved.
The incident prompted local authorities to launch a criminal investigation to determine exactly what went wrong.
Investigation Focuses on Safety Procedures

- A 25-year-old man from Limeira.
- A 27-year-old man from Indaiatuba.
