Several guests quietly wondered whether Jonathan’s former wife would actually appear.
Most assumed she wouldn’t.
Then, shortly before the ceremony began, another vehicle approached.
It wasn’t flashy.
It was simply elegant.
A black luxury sedan stopped outside the entrance.
The driver opened the rear door.
Emma stepped out.
She wore a classic navy-blue dress.
Simple.
Elegant.
Confident.
There were no flashy accessories.
No dramatic entrance.
Just quiet dignity.
Then two children climbed out behind her.
A little boy.
A little girl.
Both around five years old.
The room fell unusually quiet.
Jonathan noticed the children immediately.
He frowned.
As Emma walked toward the entrance, his smile slowly disappeared.
Vanessa whispered,
“Who are they?”
Jonathan didn’t answer.
Emma stopped a few feet away.
Jonathan forced a laugh.
“I didn’t expect you to come.”
Emma smiled politely.
“Thank you for the invitation.”
His eyes shifted toward the twins.
“And these children?”
Emma looked at Lucas and Lily before meeting Jonathan’s eyes.
“They’re mine.”
Something about the children’s faces caught his attention.
The little boy had the same eyes.
The same smile.
The same dimple Jonathan had seen in every family photograph growing up.
His expression changed instantly.
Emma calmly spoke the words that froze the room.
“You have two beautiful children, Jonathan.”
Silence.
Complete silence.
Jonathan stared at the twins.
“What… did you say?”
Emma remained calm.
“I discovered I was pregnant shortly before our divorce.”
Nobody spoke.
The officiant quietly stepped back.
Guests exchanged confused glances.
Vanessa looked between them.
“You never told him?”
Emma answered honestly.
“He had already decided we were worthless.”
She wasn’t accusing him.
She wasn’t shouting.
She was simply stating the truth.
Jonathan looked at the twins again.
The little girl smiled politely.
“Hi.”
He couldn’t speak.
His entire world suddenly felt different.
He slowly knelt to their height.
“What are your names?”
“Lily.”
“I’m Lucas.”
Emma gently placed a hand on each child’s shoulder.
“They’ve grown up surrounded by love.”
