Pictures online can look similar while representing completely different conditions requiring very different treatments.
If someone develops a rapidly spreading rash, severe itching, facial swelling, difficulty breathing, fever, or blisters, it’s important to contact a healthcare professional as soon as possible. Those symptoms deserve prompt medical evaluation.
Today, my father is doing much better than he was during those frightening first days. Although his skin continues to heal, he’s grateful that we sought medical attention instead of simply hoping the rash would disappear on its own.
Sometimes what begins as “just an itch” turns out to be your body’s way of telling you that something more significant needs attention.
